Thank you for your interest in the 2024 Winterfest Homebrew Competition!

This competition is hosted by SNAFU, the Southern Nevada Ale Fermenters Union. We are proud to be the homebrew club for the city of Las Vegas and its surrounding areas. You may sign up to be a SNAFU club member on our website: https://www.snafubrew.com/memberships/
Membership is not required to participate.

Below are the vitals:
2021 BJCP Style Guidelines are in effect
2 bottles per entry
$10 Entry fee
All categories in the BJCP Guidelines are eligible
Limit of 10 Entries per entrant
Limit of 1 Entry per BJCP Sub-Category

The 2024 Winterfest Homebrew Competition is an AHA/BJCP sanctioned competition open to any homebrewer age 21 and older. Professional brewers are permitted to be entrants as long as the entry was not brewed on commercial equipment at a commercial facility.

All entries must be handcrafted products, containing ingredients available to the general public, and made using private equipment by hobbyist brewers (i.e., no use of commercial facilities or Brew on Premises operations, supplies, etc.).

In order to provide anonymity of brewers' bottles during the judging, its important they do not contain distinguishing characteristics, therefore we REQUIRE that all entries meet the following guidelines:

-Each entry consists of two (2) brown or green glass bottles OR two (2) all silver or all black aluminum cans. Each bottle/can should have no label (adhesive or painted) or other distinguishing marks.
-Bottles with raised glass lettering are discouraged but permitted.
-Each bottle is capped with an unmarked SOLID COLOR CAP.
-Use a permanent black marker to obliterate any and all words or pictures on the caps. No flip top or screw cap bottles.
-ENTRY FORMS SHOULD BE ATTACHED TO BOTTLES/ CANS WITH A RUBBER BAND ONLY; glue and/or tape are unacceptable and may result in disqualification of the entry.
-Non-compliant bottles may be disqualified. Any non-compliant bottles received may be judged (at the discretion of the competition organizers) but are not eligible for mini-best of show or awards.
Please fill out the entry forms completely. Be meticulous about noting any special ingredients that must be specified per the 2021 BJCP Style Guidelines. Failure to note such ingredients, carbonation levels, or sweetness may impact the judges scoring of your entry.

Specialty Categories Requiring Additional Information:

-Please provide a base beer style for categories 29 - 34.

Mandatory requirements for meads taken from http://bjcp.org/docs/2015_Guidelines_Mead.pdf:
-Entrants MUST specify carbonation level (still; petillant or lightly carbonated; sparkling or highly carbonated).
-Entrants MUST specify strength level (hydromel or light mead; standard mead; sack or strong mead).
-Entrants MUST specify sweetness

Please also note "Optional Requirements" which are not required but recommended, Category-Specific Requirements, and Defaults in the BJCP 2015 Mead Guidelines - http://bjcp.org/docs/2015_Guidelines_Mead.pdf.

For ciders, please be sure to specify both a carbonation level and sweetness. Please note different categories will have different levels of sweetness. For more info please refer to http://bjcp.org/docs/2015_Guidelines_Cider.pdf. Finally, please be sure to specify specialty ingredients on categorys C2E.

Bottles will not be returned to contest entrants.
Completed entry forms must be submitted with all entries, and should be printed directly from this website. Recipe forms are NOT required.
Please fill out the entry forms completely. Be meticulous about noting any special ingredients that must be specified per the 2021 BJCP Style Guidelines. Failure to note such ingredients, carbonation levels, or sweetness may impact the judges scoring of your entry.

Please Note: When paying with PayPal, your entries should update as paid immediately (or within a few minutes). If it does not, one of the comeptition coordinators will review and mark it as paid within 1-2 days

An ENTRANT is the one or more people submitting an entry. Member(s) of an entry must have actively contributed to brewing, fermenting, and bottling that entry. Every member must be at least 21 years of age.
Entrants are not limited to one entry in each category but MAY ONLY ENTER EACH SUBCATEGORY ONCE. For example, participants may enter a Belgian Tripel (26C) and Belgian Dark Strong Ale (26D), but may not enter two (2) Belgian Dark Strong Ales, even if they are different brews. No member of an entrant may submit another entry of the same subcategory either, whether as an individual entrant, a member of the same entrant, or a member of another entrant.

Judges and stewards will be allowed to enter the competition, but no judge or steward will be assigned to a category for which they are entrants.
The competition organizers are not responsible for mis-categorized entries, mailed entries that are not received by the entry deadline, or entries that arrived damaged.

Qualified judging of all entries is the primary goal of our event. Judges will evaluate and score each entry according the 2021 BJCP guidelines (http://bjcp.org/stylecenter.php.) The consensus score will rank each entry in its category. Each flight will have at least one BJCP judge, ranked "certified" or higher.

Entries can be shipped or hand delivered (during normal business hours) to the drop off locations -
